Not a page I had planned on.

If you don't know who she this: And here's her giving a keynote:

I think the whole world might miss her. But I know for certain I will.

I lived in Portland, she's pretty much the patron saint there.image

Beautiful homage to Ursula Le Guin. I never read her works, but they seem great and she was clearly a model human being.

Anyone with the cajones to write the phrase "the king was pregnant" deserves her place in history.

From where is that?

I have read a little of her works, the Earthsee-trilogy and "The Word For World Is Forest" (which works even better in German where the literal (and meaning-wise correct) translation is "Das Wort für Welt ist Wald". I bet everyone who likes this comic so far would like that book.

That's in Portland where she lived. She's pretty much a patron saint there. The picture is Powell's the biggest independent bookstore in the world, I think, it's an amazing place.

Thanks (valuable info, I didn't know where she was living lately and that she was so highly estimated - I'm glad she was!) but I meant: From where (from which of her publications) is "the king was pregnant"? It wasn't in any of the books I know, unless it literally got lost in translation. But I doubt that.

That's from The Left Hand of Darkness.

Thank you!
Great idea... it gives me ideas: Their language(s) would be very different from Earth languages, everything would be genderless by default... hmm, that's less difficult in English than it would be in Spanish or French where everything is either male or female...

Well, time to go for a book hunt.

(What is it with the moderation? Bad experience? From a commenter's POV it's annoying, I cannot edit a post until it's accepted.)

(Because of the moderation I don't see the comment I just wrote so here's another one.)

I just saw the first video. OH MY GOD! (<- please note & believe me that I have not used this expression before I became an atheist, but it is such a strong expression and without a god it's much purer in it's meaning :D) SHE SPOKE MY MIND, of now, and this was 2014. Just - brilliant.

My feelings exactly. I need to read her far more.
