Our planet just lost a great humanist. My friend and Sunday Assembly Portland teammate Bernie Dehler has died from a brain tumor. A former Catholic turned evangelical, Bernie studied atheism to better debate us, and then realized he was on the wrong side of the argument. Bernie confronted the world with compassion and cared deeply about truth. He had a great sense of humor and though I did not know him for long or incredibly well, he influenced me dearly. Live better, help often, wonder more. See some of his debates here.

My heart goes out to his family and all people positively impacted by his life who miss him.
May we carry on his legacy!

Yeah, he was a good guy. We worked together for a while, and he was so much fun. His heart was in the right place about making his community better and he was never afraid to change his mind if he found out he was on the wrong side of an argument. Thankfully we live in a time of YouTube and many of his debates are there so people can watch them.
