Too damn many of these memorial pages, but holy shit, what can one say about Stephen Hawking. He was so inspirational, and I was always surprised by how funny he was. He really broadened our perspective on the universe and people will be unpacking his research for generations to come. His death is a loss to the planet.

Dragonrider
The Universe is a sadder, lonelier place for his passing. May his spirit ride the ghost winds of the Stars.

We were lucky that we lived at a time when the technology existed to help him to be able to communicate even in the advanced stages of his disease. Had he been born just one generation prior we would not have had access to his mind. It makes me want to fight harder to provide opportunity for all the minds just like this that undoubtedly exist toiling in sweatshops and rice paddys throughout the world. I hope the illumination he brought us will continue to shine throughout the generations.

He died on March 14th (Pi Day) but I learned about it on March 13th. I'm going to ignore the international dateline and assume his final act was mastering time travel.

“Before we understand science, it is natural to believe that God created the universe. But now science offers a more convincing explanation."
