Lyrics of course are "White Rabbit" from Jefferson Airplane.

Perez has some mean scars...assuming they are from her time bleeding in Afghanistan.

Yeah, for both Perez and Thomas their scars are both physical and mental. There's a lot of that sort of comparison and metaphors going on in this page.

I hope this page wasn't oversexualized, but Thomas had his baptism for the adventure ahead, and Perez needs hers as well. Plus it was the easiest way to show the scars without focusing on them.

Since the time I have 100% accepted that there is no god, none you can ask for help in any way (I mean of course you can ask but that's all), I have grown to think different.

Thomas kinda punished himself for something that was not his fault and later called himself an idiot for doing it. Good, I can follow that. But Perez? I don't understand her actions.

The details of Perez's PTSD is still forthcoming, but it will be explored and makes her situation make a lot of sense. I like to think of Thomas as more of an open person so I presented his past immediately at the start of the book, but Perez is a little more private so she's trying not to think about her past so it takes us a longer time to really learn about it.
