Now you can see why I kind of didn't want to release this page on Christmas Eve...Happy to get this page to you a week early, though I might miss next week because of Holiday. We'll see, it may depend on how much eggnog I have.

Either way, I'm glad you finally get to meet Detective Rachel Pérez, our second protagonist. And, you can barely see him in the background, but her partner Detective Samson.

There's another classic art Easter egg hidden here if you can find it...

I love the escalation of drama and the introduction of two new characters! Is the classic art referred to Michelangelo's Pietá in panel one? I see that purple light again, which seems to show up whenever there is action/drama/death going on. Also, I love the way Perez is seemingly having a conflict of her Roman Catholic faith. The pained expression as she takes a smoke while leaning on the tree is intense.

Thanks for all your comments!

I've only used that magenta color on the chapter opener and the scene with the lights so maybe one of us needs our monitor adjusted... :-) I hope my color grading is not as awkward as they did in Marvel's The Defenders.

And just because Pérez is Latinx and wears a cross, I encourage you not to assume she's Roman Catholic. Maybe she's Protestant. Maybe she just likes to wear the letter "t" on her necklace. Maybe she's a fan of jewelry which resembles power-lines. Maybe she just really likes to be reminded of Roman torture devices. (For record's sake, she is totally Catholic and that's a big part of her story-line, but I encourage you not to presume!)

You sorta gave it away when she touched that cross so prominently. That's something one won't do id if it has no meaning for you.

Edit: Typo corrected
